Computing The Bedford College Group 2022

Overview

IT Essentials CISCO Level 2 (CompTIA A+ exam optional)

In the rapidly evolving landscape of information technology, maintaining a skilled and competent IT workforce is critical for the success of any digital organisation.

The Cisco IT Essentials is mapped and taught in line with the CompTIA A+ certification, consisting of the 220-1101 and 220-1102 exams. It serves as a foundational and industry-recognised credential for IT professionals.

The CompTIA A+ is the cornerstone qualification of any and all IT Technical Support people. The globally industry-recognised qualification proves to employers, customers and stakeholders that the IT Professional can configure, manage, support and perform critical IT support tasks. Leading on from the Tech+ Foundation qualification, the CompTIA A+ builds upon the skills and knowledge of hardware, software, networking and cyber security to a significantly higher level. The qualification introduces virtualisation, cloud technologies, multiple operating systems, the nature of the IT Technical Support Role and troubleshooting methodologies.

The curriculum includes hardware, operating systems, troubleshooting, networking, software installation and configuration, physical and virtual security, mobile devices, virtualisation, cloud and operational procedures.

This course is taught to the CompTIA A+ 1101 / 1102 syllabus through the use of the Cisco IT Essentials resources as the Cisco Netacad platform provides a robust, interactive virtualised classroom environment to complement the in-classroom delivery to support knowledge and overall competency on each of the subjects mentioned above.
