This course aims to develop learners’ knowledge and awareness of health, social care and children and young people’s settings. It is aimed at learners in school or college who wish to develop an understanding of the similarities and differences between these settings.

This qualification provides pathways into the sector for school leavers or anyone considering a career in health and/or social care. It will provide an opportunity for learners to develop knowledge about the wider health and social care sector before they decide whether working in the sector is for them and gain information to make decisions about career progression.

  • Introductory awareness of equality and inclusion in health and social care (adults and children and young people), early years and childcare
  • Introductory awareness of health and safety in health and social care (adults and children and young people), early years and childcare
  • Introductory awareness of person-centred support in health and social care (adults and children and young people), early years and childcare
  • Introductory awareness of the importance of healthy eating and drinking for adults
  • Introduction to children’s and young people’s development
  • Introduction to a healthy lifestyle
  • Introduction to mental health
  • Understand the importance of engagement in leisure and social activities in health and social care

  • Encourage children and young people to eat healthily

This course is a stepping stone to Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care, Level 2 Diploma in Care and Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce.
