Introducing Caring for Children & Young People NCFE Level 2 Certificate (Distance Learning)

This online course will enable you to gain additional skills and a qualification without disrupting your day-to-day life. You will have access to specialist support from dedicated tutors throughout the programme.

This qualification does not confer competence or a licence to practice within the early years sector.

All of the Level 2 courses are free. These courses last up to 16 weeks and you can start them at any point throughout the year, and complete them in your own free time.

Online written assignments.

Course content

What will I study?

This qualification will give you a basic understanding of childcare, education, babysitting and parenting responsibilities. It will also help you to make an informed choice about working with children and young people and prepare for further learning within the early years sector.

The units you will study are:

  • Young children’s development
  • Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
  • Respecting and valuing children
  • Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet
  • Importance of play for early learning
  • The value of play to young children
  • Sharing learning experiences with children

Next steps

There are several next steps that you can take. You can go on to study another Level 2 distance learning course or a Level 3 one.

Alternatively, you could enrol on to our Access to Higher Education course or other further education courses (subject to entry requirements).

Additional information

This qualification does not confer competence or a licence to practice within the early years sector.

Please note that an administration charge of £100 will be charged if learners do not complete the course within the allocated 16 weeks.
