Healthcare Science (T Level)This two-year T Level will teach you key scientific concepts, scientific working practice, collection of scientific data and experimental techniques. As part of your course you will be set a work-based project which will allow you to apply the knowledge you have gained.
The T Level course is designed for students who prefer hands on learning. You will spend 80% of your time within college learning from experts about the core skills required for a future career within science. Then 20% of your time will be spent applying the skills within a work placement. By the end of the course you will have a full Level 3 qualification as well as hands on experience within your chosen field.

Entry requirements
Essential: 4 GCSEs grades 9-4 including English and maths OR similar at Level 2 including English and maths.
Desirable: Science.
What qualification will I gain?
Level 3 T Level Technical Qualification in Healthcare Science.
How will I be assessed?
Exams and continuous assessment.
Industry placement
The work placement will provide an opportunity to learn and apply technical skills gained during the qualification. This placement will be within a company or organisation in the science sector or delivering scientific skill based services.
You will be expected to undertake 315 hours of work place learning across the two year program.

A3 – Health, safety and environmental regulations in the health and science sector
A4 – Health and safety regulations in healthcare science
A5 – Providing person-centres care when working in healthcare science
A6 – Infection prevention and control
A7 – Managing information and data within the health and science sector
A8 – Managing information and data
A9 – Good scientific and clinical practice
A10 – Good scientific practice
B1 – Core science concepts
B2 – Further science concepts
CS1 – Research skills
CS2 – Communication skills
CS3 – Team working skills
CS4 – Problem solving skills
CS5 – Reporting and presentation skills
CS6 – Reflective evaluation
Year 2 – Assisting with Healthcare Science:
Performance outcome 1: Contribute to patient care by supporting physiological, physical and clinical engineering services to produce reliable data and images for use by healthcare professionals in diagnosis and treatment.
Performance outcome 2: Contribute to patient care by supporting the collection of a range of specimens for analysis to aid diagnosis and treatment.
Performance outcome 3: Contribute to patient care by processing and analysing service user specimens in a range of life science areas and laboratory environments to produce reliable data sets for use by healthcare professionals in diagnosis and treatment.
