Healthcare Professions Support HTQ

The purpose of Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals in Healthcare for England is to develop students as independent-thinking professionals who can meet the demands of employers and adapt to a constantly changing world. The qualifications aim to widen access to higher education and improve the career prospects of those who take them. This course will prepare students for further study or training in healthcare-related fields.

A student-centred approach to the curriculum, with a flexible, unit-based structure that focuses on developing the practical, interpersonal and thinking skills the student will need to succeed in employment and higher education.

Entry requirements

Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or a related subject.

Maths and English at grade 4 or above.

Qualification

BTEC L5 Higher Nationals Healthcare Professions’ Support for England (2023) – RQF.

Assessment methods

Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals are assessed using a combination of assignments that are set and assessed internally, and Pearson-set assignments, which are set by Centres in line with our guidelines and graded by Centres.

  2. Demonstrating Professional Principles and Values in Health and Social Care Practice – Unit credit 30 – Level 4
  3. Supporting the Individual Journey through
    Integrated Health and Social Care – Unit credit 15 – Level 4
  4. Fundamentals of Evidence-based Practice – Unit credit 15 – Level 4
  5. Principles of Health Education 15
  6. Effective Healthcare Practice Using Maths – Unit credit 15 – Level 4
  7. Applied Anatomy and Physiology – Unit credit 15 – Level 4
  8. Innovation and Improvement through
    Participatory Action Research – Unit credit 30 – Level 5
  9. Reflective Approaches in Implementing
    Person-centred Practice – Unit credit 15 – Level 5
  10. Planning Care in Practice – Unit credit 15 – Level 5
  11. Meeting the Needs of Individuals with Long-term Health Conditions – Unit credit 15 – Level 5
  12. Team and Individual Leadership: Mentoring and Coaching Others – Unit credit 15 – Level 5
  13. End of Life Care Planning and Support – Unit credit 15 – Level 5

Additional information

The Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Healthcare Professions’ Support for England requires at least 450 hours of work experience/placement in healthcare settings.
