Green Skills - Multiple Packages (Distance Learning)

One of the greatest challenges facing the world is climate change, with rising temperatures and severe weather threatening the existence of the planet. In response, the UK government has set a target for the country to become net zero by 2050.

The Bedford College Group are committed to providing opportunities for communities to develop knowledge and understanding of the importance of nature, sustainability and the causes and impact of climate change. This course is designed to give you the knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

  • Green Skills and Careers
  • Decarbonisation
  • Green Energy
  • Green Heating

These courses last up to 16 weeks and you can start them at any point throughout the year, and complete them in your own free time.

Please note that an administration charge of £150 will be charged if the course is not completed within the allocated 16 weeks.

Course content

This course is designed to give you the knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

  • Green Skills and Careers – Learn about the in-demand skills required for different career paths and develop knowledge of key concepts of green jobs.
  • Decarbonisation – Learn about carbon footprints and how businesses can work together to capture and prevent carbon from entering the atmosphere.
  • Green Energy – Gain knowledge and understanding of EV technologies, such as, battery energy storage and charging systems.
  • Green Heating – Learn about green heating systems, such as, heat pumps and fuel cells.

Entry Requirements

You will be required to complete an initial English and Maths assessment, where you must achieve over a Level 1 to have access to the course.

How will I be assessed?

Written assignments (online).

Next steps

After completing this course, you could:

  • study another Distance Learning course
  • enrol on to an Access to Higher Education course or other further education courses (subject to entry requirements)
