Floristry City & Guilds Level 2 CertificateFloristry is a diverse sector that includes private and corporate floristry, sales and marketing, buying for flower companies, creative demonstrations and event work. This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to meet the needs of this diverse and challenging industry. You will study a range of topics, including art and design for florists, hand-tied and floral designs, wedding and funeral designs, and much more.

Entry requirements
To begin this study programme you will need…
- 3 GCSEs at grades 9-3 or A*-D ideally including English and maths
OR
- Equivalent Level 1 qualification
What qualification will I gain?
Floristry NPTC Level 2 Technical Certificate.
How will I be assessed?
A variety of assessment methods will be used, including presentations, case studies, portfolios and practical assessments. The study programme will require you to complete two theory exams and one synoptic assignment (externally set).
Course content
What will I study?
This course will incorporate elements of the principal techniques used in floristry, whilst also developing your understanding of the floristry industry.

- Health and safety for the land based industries
- Working in the floristry industry
- customer service
- Caring for and maintaining floristry products
- Floristry design principles
- Creative floristry designs
- Preparing to create floristry designs
- English and maths:
If you don’t already have GCSE English and maths grade A*-C, we will work with you to help you develop your maths and English skills.

- Work experience
You are required to complete 150 hours of work experience as part of your study programme and mandatory unit:
- Employer Involvement
- Personal development skills, study skills and employability skills
- Additional vocational learning and qualifications:
- You will have the opportunity to visit floristry events, flower markets and take part in competitions.
- You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills in commercial work.

The course ensures that you will develop the vocational knowledge, understanding and skills that are required for progressions onto a Level 3 course, or employment in the floristry industry.

Additional information
To take part in this course you will be required to pay £950 for flower costs over the year. There will also be non-compulsory trips at approximately £300.

Funding Information
The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
