Entry to CareThis qualification is designed to stimulate interest and encourage a learner’s understanding of the skills needed to care for a baby or young child.
Whilst studying this qualification you will learn how to care for children, develop an understanding of children’s development needs and promote their wellbeing.
During the course you will also gain personal skills such as; time management, communication, problem-solving, and working as part of a team — all valuable life skills that will enhance your career and your personal life.

Need to know
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, learners should have a willingness to learn and a desire to develop both personal and professional skills.
The qualification
NCFE CACHE Entry Level Award in Caring for a Child/Children (Entry 3).
Assessment methods
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: written tasks, designing a leaflet, information boards, case studies.
Course content
You will study:
- Children’s play and leisure activities in the community
- Providing a safe hygienic environment for a young child
- Routines for young children
- Healthy lifestyles
English and Maths will also be part of the study timetable

During the course you will also gain personal skills such as; time management, communication, problem-solving, and working as part of a team — all valuable life skills that will enhance your career and your personal life.
Further study/career options
On successful completion of the course learners are able to progress onto the Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Health, Social care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings.
