Course information
1 year or 2 years, depending on the route chosen:
- 4 GCSEs grades 9 to 4 or A* to C including English, maths and preferably science OR Engineering at Level 2.
You will study a variety of modules designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of engineering including electronic and mechanical. You will also carry out an extended project of your choice within the field of engineering during your second year, as well as undertaking work experience in a related field.
EAL Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Technologies.
This Level 3 qualification will prepare you for an apprenticeship and can help you find employment, or give you the UCAS points needed for university.
- If you complete the two year programme you will be able to progress on to HND or undergraduate courses at Tresham College or Bedford College or other universities.
- Completion of the one year programme will prepare you for progression on to a HNC or an apprenticeship programme in engineering here at Tresham College or Bedford College.
You will need to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) approx. £50.
This qualification is recognised throughout the industry as one of the recommended Level 3 Technical Certificates for students who wish to progress onto or are undertaking an engineering apprenticeship.
The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.

If you are aged 19 or over and want to achieve your first full Level 3 qualification (equivalent to an advanced technical certificate, diploma or A-Levels) then this course is free, as part of the National Skills Fund.
Part-time Fee Flow ChartIf you are aged 24 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
