Electrical and Electronic Engineering HNC (HTQ) Full time

The Level 4 HNC lays the foundation of higher learning in electrical engineering. This develops and strengthens core skills while preparing students for specialist subjects at Level 5 or to enter employment and develops competence in a range of subject-specific and general skills, knowledge and qualities relevant to key areas of engineering.

Essential entry criteria:

  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma with an overall grade of Merit or above, or
  • A Levels in Maths and Physics achieving grade C or above, or
  • Level 3 T Level in Engineering with overall Merit or above, or

Entry may also be gained to the course based on suitable industry experience or alternative qualifications to be determined at interview

This HNC is specifically designed for students wishing to progress in electrical and electronic engineering. It provides the core skills required for a range of careers in engineering, develops students’ understanding of the major impact that new digital and software

technologies have on the engineering environment and provide insight to electrical and electronic engineering operations.

All units are supported by industry experienced staff in purpose-built labs extensively equipped for this subject area.

This course is delivered 2 days a week over 1 year.

This HNC is designed to meet the requirements of the Engineering Manufacturing Technician Occupational Standard and can be studied as part of a Level 4 apprenticeship.

  • U4001: Engineering Design
  • U4014: Production Engineering Manufacture
  • U4017: Quality & Process

Assignments, in class time constrained assessments, multiple choice questions.

Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering for England.

This course allows progression to a Level 5 HND in Engineering, or may allow entry to the second year of a degree program.

Costs:

There are no additional mandatory costs once enrolled, however the team may recommend text books and equipment that students could purchase to practice at home.

Trips:

Various trips to support modules may be offered throughout the year dependent on company availability. Previous trips have included manufacturers, automation plants and power stations.
