When can the apprenticeship training start?

3 intakes per-year September/ January/ April

Course content

The apprenticeship covers a range of Skills Knowledge and Behaviours. Whilst studying you will be supported throughout the programme to develop:

  • Working in partnership with other colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals
  • Using play to support children
  • How to identify issues of safeguarding and child protection, concerns to the person in charge.
  • Reflective practice and
  • how to use continuous professional development
  • safety and hygiene of the children
  • knowledge of child development
  • contribute to planning and organising activities
  • communicate and engage
  • support the collection of accurate and up-to-date records.
  • support the well-being of all children

Entry requirements

Desirable:

English and maths grade 4 or higher or equivalent.

Further study and career options

Course progression:

On completion of this course, progression to a Level 3 Diploma or apprenticeship, will provide you with a broader knowledge of the industry. You are also able to apply for employment in a variety of environments including nurseries and pre-schools, in jobs such as nursery assistant or classroom assistant.
