Creative Media Production Intermediate (Level 2)

The Level 2 Award and Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology will provide you with an introduction to a broad range of creative and technical skills in media production, enabling you to acquire the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress to further education and employment within the industry.

You will gain useful filmmaking skills and develop your knowledge of the media industry, engaging in both practical and theoretical aspects of production. Some of the projects will include creating an awareness campaign, film trailer and short films, as well as exploring audio production and digital platforms. There is also the opportunity to complete an end of year project, showcasing your talent and skills in a particular area of production. This study programme is ideal if you wish to gain a Level 2 qualification and progress to a Level 3 course in Creative Media Production or another creative subject.

Course information

This study programme will give you the chance to engage with both practical and theoretical aspects of digital media. You will gain useful digital media production skills and develop your knowledge of the media industry. The study programme is ideal if you wish to gain a qualification in media in one year and progress to Level 3.

Entry requirements

To begin this study programme you will need…
Duration: 1 year

  • 3 GCSEs grades 9–3 ideally including English & maths OR
  • Relevant Level 1 qualification

Duration: 2 years

  • 3 GCSEs grades 9–1 ideally including English & maths with a keen interest in media
  • Other relevant levels of qualification or experience will be considered
Course content

Key areas on this study programme will include planning, organising and producing various digital
media products including short films, adverts and written articles. You will develop knowledge of the
ownership and function of modern media and apply this knowledge in a vocational context to your
project work.

English and maths:
If you don’t already have GCSE English and maths grade A*-C, we will work with you to help you develop your maths and English skills.

Assessment methods

During the study programme you will be assessed through completing a project/assignment brief.

Further study and career options

On successful completion of this study programme you can progress on to study a Media Production Foundation Degree, a BA (Hons) in a related subject, or to employment in the media industry.
