Creative Media Production and Technology Advanced (Level 3)

This Extended Diploma will give you the chance to engage with both practical and theoretical aspects of production. You will also gain useful filmmaking skills and develop your knowledge of the media industry. You will be expected to acknowledge and apply industry codes and conventions to their work. This study programme is ideal if you wish to gain a Level 3 qualification and progress to university or employment.

Course Information

Entry requirements

To begin this study programme you will need…

Duration: 2 Years

  • 4 GCSEs at grades 9-4 ideally including English and maths

OR

  • Creative Media Production at Level 2
Course content

Key areas studied will include planning, organising, shooting and editing short films and music videos. You will develop knowledge of the ownership and function of modern media, and apply this in a vocational context. The Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (Television and Film) is a 180-credit and 1080 guided learning (GLH) qualification that consists of eight mandatory units, plus optional units to provide a combined total of 180 credits.

  • English and maths:
    If you don’t already have GCSE English and maths grade 9-4 (A*-C), we will work with you to help you develop your maths and English skills.

Assessment methods

During the study programme you will be assessed through completing a project/assignment brief.

Qualifications

You will gain:

  • Creative Media Production and Technology UAL Level 3 Diploma

Plus: English and maths qualifications if required

You can also gain up to 168 UCAS points.

Further study and career options

On successful completion of this study programme you can progress on to study a Media Production Foundation Degree, a BA (Hons) in a related subject, or to employment in the media industry.

Additional information

You will be required to provide your own headphones and memory stick/hard drive approximately £40-£50.
