Entry requirements

This course is suitable if you are a qualified counsellor, or a counsellor in training already qualified at L2 or above. It will cover Stage 1 of the BACP training curriculum for working with children and young people. It involves some experiential learning and requires you to explore some of your own childhood experiences.

Course content

During the course you will cover topics including:

  • Using counselling skills ethically and safely
  • Managing and helping interaction
  • Communicating empathic understanding
  • Managing an active listening space
  • Using self awareness to facilitate helping work
  • Use counselling skills coherently

This is an intensive course and you will be expected to partake in private study on a daily basis.
