Chainsaw Maintenance & Crosscutting NPTC Level 2 Award Refresher (CS30)The Chainsaws and Related Operations courses offer a range of practical skills and assessments covering all aspects of chainsaw work. This two-day course will cover chainsaw maintenance, cross-cutting and stacking techniques, and is delivered by one of Shuttleworth College’s qualified instructors. This course is designed for professional chainsaw users who work, or intend to work, in professional amenity arboriculture or within forestry. Gaining an NPTC qualification will demonstrate that you have gained the required practical skill and technical knowledge for such roles.

Course information
You must have completed:
Chainsaw Maintenance & Crosscutting NPTC Level 2 Award
You will study the following topics:
- Understanding operator safety during chainsaw maintenance
- Carrying out routine and periodic maintenance to a chainsaw
- Starting and checking a chainsaw
- Understanding operator safety during chainsaw use
- Safely crosscutting timber that is less than guide bar length in diameter
- Stacking crosscut timber.
To take part in this course you must bring PPE (personal protective equipment) and other tools and equipment as listed on the joining instructions. These will be emailed to you a few weeks before the course is due to start – please contact us to confirm you have the required items.
