CeramicsIn this course, you’ll explore a range of ceramics techniques including coiling, glazing and soft slab building. The course is designed to give you a good understanding of some principles of ceramics.
This is a hands on course that allows you to explore clay and experiment with new techniques that you may not have used before. The arts has long been known to be of benefit to people’s mental health and this allows you to broaden your skills at the same time.

What will I study?
- Intro to hand building and surface decoration for ceramics (pinch pots, coiling, slab building) pinch pots
- Coiling – coiling as decoration and as a construction technique – creating a coiled bowl
- Soft slab building – slab built vase, using monoprint techniques with oxide onto the slabs
- Own ceramic project, surface decoration techniques
- Glazing and surface decoration
