Joshua

I enjoyed studying Business at school, but in the wider world it’s obviously very influential and people can become very successful from it. It’s something I want to be a part of, which is why I chose to study the subject further at College.

My favourite part of the course is Marketing. We look at: what tactics advertisers use to influence people’s spending; advertising on different platforms; and the different types of markets and the effects they have. We have also studied units on Finance and Exploring Business so far.

As part of my College work placement I work once a week at Portfolio Events, which is a catering company. I can apply everything I learn in College to my work here, including finance when I work on spreadsheets and filing, and marketing when I look at how they promote themselves through awards and testimonials.

In lessons we do a balance of group work and more individual tasks. Our tutors keep us on track with our future plans by regularly talking to us about what we want to do next and how we are going to achieve it.

I want to go to university when I finish College to study either Business or Finance. I’ve not decided on a career yet but I am interested in a role in real estate, as a Financial Advisor or Entrepreneur.
