Lucas

When I was growing up a family friend worked in a barber shop and it was something that always intrigued me. I’d go and spend a couple of hours in the shop just watching everything that went on.

So when I left school, this course really appealed to me. We start out learning on models and then move on to real clients. I’ve enjoyed learning to cut long and short hair, as well as beards. We’ve also covered colouring and styling. The tutors really know their stuff and are all very good.

We recently visited Salon International in London, which is a large exhibition of the hairdressing industry.

I have a work experience placement at Bedford Barber. I’m hoping to secure a job there once the course is finished. They have helped me to progress my skills and experience.

Once I’ve gained more experience I would love to get a job cutting hair on a cruise ship. My ultimate aim is to own my own barber shop and even make it into a franchise one day.
