Applied Science Intermediate (Level 2)

in a range of disciplines.

If you are not quite ready to study at Level 3 then our Level 2 in Applied Science is a great way to get started on your career path. Successful students from these study programmes progress on to undergraduate study, training or employment in science-related careers.

Entry requirements

Duration: 1 year
• 3 GCSEs grades 9–3 including English, maths
and science.

Course content

This study programme will cover a range of units
required for a broad understanding of chemistry,
physics and biology, with units including; Chemistry
of Our Earth, The Living Body, Science in Medicine,
Environmental Science, Energy and the Universe,
Electronics in Action and Biology and the Environment.
You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence,
assignments and practical and group work. You will also
be required to study English and maths.

Qualification gained

• Applied Science Gateway Level 2 Diploma
• English and maths qualifications if required.

Further study and career options

You will be able to progress on to one of our Applied
Science Level 3 study programmes.

Funding Information

All full-time Level 1 and Level 2 courses are now FREE for everyone, whatever their age. If you are looking to study a Level 3 qualification, courses are still free if you’re under 19 or 19-23 and studying your first full Level 3 qualification. If you’re over 23 or studying a second Level 3 qualification, you will need to pay a fee.
