You will have several assignments to complete during the year to track your learning and progress. At the end of the year you will be assessed with a 10 week Final Major Project in which you will research and explore a theme and develop an artistic response to it.
You will be taught the fundamentals of animation, principles and practice of visual language and 3D design, 3D modelling, animation, texturing, rigging and skinning, lighting and rendering, the history of practice in art and design and professional practice of the modern animation industry. You will also be taught industry standard programs including Autodesk 3DSMax, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects. Progression will be into the 2nd year, apprenticeships or university.
Most students progress onto the 2nd year and then go onto apprenticeships, university, freelancing or industry work.
Possible employment sectors:
- 3D Design
- Animation amongst others.
Sketchbooks will be required throughout the year. Not a requirement but students who source access to 3DSMax and Adobe at home and a graphics tablet tend to do well.
