Animation Advanced (Level 3)The course is intended for those that want to gain practical skills and knowledge in animation. It is also suitable for those wanting to update their knowledge and skills for progression within the industry or progression to university.

Need to know
Entry requirements:
4 GCSEs grades 9-4 OR similar qualification at Level 2.
Assessment methods:
You will have several assignments to complete during the year to track your learning and progress. At the end of the year you will be assessed with a 10 week Final Major Project in which you will research and explore a theme and develop an artistic response to it.
Course content
You will be taught the fundamentals of animation, principles and practice of visual language and 3D design, 3D modelling, animation, texturing, rigging and skinning, lighting and rendering, the history of practice in art and design and professional practice of the modern animation industry. You will also be taught industry standard programs including Autodesk 3DSMax, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects. Progression will be into the 2nd year, apprenticeships or university.
Next steps
Most students progress onto the 2nd year and then go onto apprenticeships, university, freelancing or industry work.

Additional information
Sketchbooks will be required throughout the year. Not a requirement but students who source access to 3DSMax and Adobe at home and a graphics tablet tend to do well.
