Amber

I’ve had horses all my life and couldn’t see myself doing anything else. At home I train young horses and have competed British Dressage (BD). I have a four-year-old mare who is really well bred, so I’m hoping to compete BD with her too.

I love riding the different horses at College. They all have such different temperaments to get to grips with. We also get to work towards our British Horse Society (BHS) Progressive Riding Tests as part of the course. The practical work out of the saddle, for me, is about polishing up on things I already know and making sure I learn the correct way of doing things.

The theory work is also interesting, from biology and anatomy, to feeding. My tutors are all really nice and helpful, and everyone is very kind to each other here.

I am doing my work experience on a dressage competition yard, Contact Dressage, and next year we will start to get help with our university applications. I would like to study Equine Physiotherapy – either at university or as an apprenticeship – and qualify as a Physiotherapist to work on a competition yard. I love learning about the muscles of a horse and have always been interested in the work my Equine Physiotherapist does on my own horse.
