Adult Mathematics GCSE (9-1)

This course offers the opportunity to sit the Pearson Edexcel GCSE Maths qualification. Offers to this course are made based on prior achievement of GCSE at grade D/3, completion of Level 2 Functional Skills Maths (recent specification) or a GCSE maths level assessment.

Entry requirements

This course is for adults only (19+) and is not available to those studying at other institutions. To access this course, you will need to complete an on-line assessment which will help us decide whether this is the appropriate course for you.

If you are successful, you will then be contacted by our Customer Services Team with information about how to enrol on the course.

If you do not meet the entry criteria yet, you may be referred to a Functional Skills course to support you building up your skills.

How will I be assessed?

GCSE Maths is assessed by 3 Nationally set exams. One Non Calculator paper and two calculator papers.

Exams are scheduled by the DFE so all students sit exams on the same date at the same time. These exams will are usually Morning exams over 3 separate dates in May and June.

  • Application of Number
  • Ratio and Proportion
  • Algebra
  • Measure, Shape and Space
  • Statistics

Additional information

This course is free of charge to those eligible for funding and who have not yet achieved a GCSE grade C/4.

Funding Information

The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.

If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
