Students at Tresham College learned the fine art of wine tasting as part of their Hospitality and Catering course on Monday 2nd March.
Visiting wine expert Duncan Murray introduced the students to different wines, exploring the varieties of grape and how to pair them with food.
Bringing in industry professionals is really beneficial for our students. Duncan has a wealth of knowledge from running his own successful business and an expert palette, he is also aware of the latest trends and popular choices in the market. Of course spittoons were used during the tastings to ensure students kept a clear head!
“This year our students have also visited Mademoiselle Desserts in Corby and taken part in a Butchery Master Class, which is all valuable workplace experience,” said Catering Course Manager Andrew Robinson.
Hospitality and Catering studies are based in The Manor House, next to Tresham College Corby Campus, which provides both classrooms and state-of-the-art commercial kitchens. The course gives students the opportunity to gain real work experience at prestigious events as well as working in The Manor Restaurant, which is open to the public for lunches and themed evening meals.
