Stacey Maxey is creating a Spanish tapas business thanks to support from the Kettering LifePlan service and Tresham College.
Stacey, aged 38, signed up for a LifePlan course via Kettering Borough Council which led her on to improve her maths and English skills at Tresham College.
Such has been her commitment to study and her business plan, that Stacey has won an LifePlan Outstanding Achievement Award.
Next she plans to gain her certificates in Health & Safety and Food Hygiene so she can launch her new business Totally Tapas.
Stacey, who has a three-year-old son, hopes that these new skills will give her a good grounding upon which to launch her business. She has worked in hospitality previously, but this has been interrupted by lockdowns.
“My parents lived in Spain for 18 years and so I spent a lot of time there and grew to love the food especially tapas. I now want to bring the taste of that lovely sunny, Spanish cuisine to the UK,” said Stacey.
