Students at Tresham College, Kettering have enjoyed a unique experience and gained a rare insight into the music industry through an opportunity to help launch a new single for local band, The Touch helping them gain real experience of the music business.
Megan Knight is a member of the Creative Arts Team at Tresham College who set up this initiative:
“The Touch are a local Kettering band I had seen perform and asked if they could provide an input into our course. The workshops we developed have been incredibly beneficial for the students. They have been involved in every aspect of launching a new single including video production, graphics for music streaming apps, merchandise design and the creation of an Electronic Press Kit,” said Megan.
An 80s inspired rock/pop band, The Touch, have been performing for three years. Their new single is called The Mission and the video has been created by the students. Filmed on a wet Sunday during Storm Dennis the video features a Daimler Ferret armoured car.
The idea behind the video is a battle within the band, so the students have filmed us fighting in various forms and this is a chase scene involving a tank,” said The Touch Lead Singer Jamie Neale.
The students have been amazing and so professional in everything they have developed. I hope we have been able to give them an insight into the practicalities of the industry, performing is the easy part, there is much more work to do off stage if you want to succeed.
The new single and video will be launched on Thursday 27th February at Tresham College. Tickets are free to attend and will include a live performance by the band. Please email email@example.com for details. Follow the band on Facebook and Instagram via @thetouchuk
