Tresham College, part of The Bedford College Group, proudly welcomed record-breaking ‘Disabled Adventurer’ Nick Wilson to its Kettering campus this week as part of National Diversity Week celebrations.

Nick, who made history in 2024 as the first person to ascend Mount Snowdon unaided in an all-powered electric wheelchair, delivered a powerful and deeply personal talk to students in the college’s performance hall. With a social media following of more than 30,000 and a growing national profile as an advocate for accessibility, Nick shared the determination, innovation and resilience behind his extraordinary achievement. Nick was also honoured with the Special Recognition Award at the NNBN Awards 2025.

Nick Wilson said,

“This sort of community outreach and speaking to young people is something I’m very passionate about-it has been fantastic to speak to these young people here at Tresham College. For me in 2026, it’s all about outreach and how I can best serve the local community and help young people.”

Students had the opportunity to hear first-hand about the challenges that he has overcome, take part in a lively Q&A session and see the adaptive technology that made his record-breaking climb possible. His visit sparked important conversations around inclusion, representation and removing barriers, themes that sit at the heart of The Bedford College Group’s values.

The event formed part of a wider programme of activity across the Group to mark Celebration of Diversity Month, designed to inspire students, broaden perspectives and strengthen connections within the college community and beyond.

By bringing influential changemakers like Nick Wilson directly to campus, The Bedford College Group continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating an inclusive, forward-thinking environment where every student is encouraged to push boundaries and realise their full potential.
