The announcement comes at a pivotal moment for the region. Major investments including the Universal United Kingdom Resort in Bedfordshire and the expansion of London Luton Airport are expected to generate thousands of skilled jobs across construction, engineering, logistics, hospitality, transport, digital technologies and the visitor economy over the coming decade. Universal alone is expected to create around 28,000 jobs during construction and operation, with a strong commitment to apprenticeships and local workforce development.
