The Bedford College Group welcomed employer partners from across the region to Bedford College on Saturday for an afternoon of food, drinks and conversation as part of the popular Bedford River Festival.

The event was a chance to thank the employers who work closely with the Group throughout the year while catching up away from the workplace and enjoying one of Bedford’s biggest community celebrations.

Among those attending were representatives from Universal Destinations & Experiences, East West Railway Company, Kier Construction, Wates Group, Center Parcs UK & Ireland, The Open University, Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce, Leica Geosystems, bpha and several other valued partners.

These relationships play an important role in helping students gain the skills and experience employers are looking for, whether through industry projects, work placements, apprenticeships or careers advice. The afternoon offered the perfect opportunity to strengthen those connections in a more relaxed setting.

Visitors to the festival also stopped by The Bedford College Group’s stand throughout the day to find out more about courses, apprenticeships and the opportunities available across the Group.

There was plenty to celebrate on the water too, as the Bedford College Dragon Boat team put in a fantastic performance, winning three of their four heats and narrowly missing out on a place in the semi-finals.

The Bedford River Festival once again showcased the very best of Bedford, and The Bedford College Group was proud to play its part by bringing together education, employers and the wider community for a memorable day of collaboration, celebration and friendly competition.
