T Levels are the tops

Bedford College Tower Block River View

New T Level training in Digital Support is cracking ahead at The Bedford College Group with student James McKay being invited to ‘opt in’ to Squad UK in WorldSkills overseas competitions.

James, 18, of Barton, Bedfordshire is nearing the end of his two year T Level course. Through his training at the Bedford College campus he has excelled, and earlier reached the final stage of the national British Computer Society T Level Student of the Year competition.

Before that James, and a fellow student Daniel Cobzariu, took part in the UK Finals of the WorldSkills Website Development competition.

A new way forward

Now James is continuing his journey with the WorldSkills organisation and hopes to compete in Poland in September, followed by France and farther afield again in 2025.

His award-winning teacher Daniel Hulatt says:

“Our students are showcasing just what can be achieved via T Levels which are a new way forward in linking theory with practical work. The fact they continue to succeed within the WorldSkills environment is testament to their hard work and the teaching experience shared between our staff within The Bedford College Group.”

James hopes to gain a good quality apprenticeship this summer (2023) when he completes his course.
