Following a rigorous two hours of on-water fun the students sat down to a chat with professional Wakeboarder Lex Balladon. Lex is an ambassador for the sport and now coaches, writes, models and films all whilst being a busy mum of two young boys and running her own business – ‘Wake Daze’.
Lex talked the group through how she got in to the world of wakeboarding – working tirelessly through the summer during A-Levels and then working and studying for a year in California as part of her American Studies degree. She has worked in the board-sports industry for well-known brands such as Billabong, Burton Snowboards and Nalu Beads. She is the current Masters National Champion and her best world ranking was 8th in the 2008 Open Women competition.
Sam Bates, Outdoor Adventure Lecturer commented:
“This was a great opportunity for the students and they did really well out on the water. It’s good for them to hear about how to get in to the competitive world.”
