Bedford College is once again proving it is a world class establishment for computing as two students take part in the finals of a World Skills UK competition being staged in Scotland on November 17th -18th.
Alex Budny, aged 22, from Bedford, has already progressed into employment at a senior school in Sandy, and Ben Grayson will turn 18 whilst taking part in the competition in Lanarkshire. When Ben of Biggleswade joined the college his talent was quickly recognised and he was fast tracked on to a Level 4 HNC class.
Joining them at the event will be their tutor Daniel Hulatt who has guided them through the intricacies of Cyber Security – a vital skills set in today’s fast moving world of online activity.
Paula Hobday Head of Computing said: “Having regular finalists at the World Skills UK competitions demonstrates how Bedford College is leading the region in the field of computing. “This is a critical skills area and the Government has recognised the added value of The Bedford College Group with the announcement of an extra £256,339 worth of funding so we can spread those skills into Northamptonshire via our Tresham College campuses.”
