School leavers can still secure a September start at Tresham College and The Corby Sixth Form

There’s still time to explore your options and secure your next step this September, that’s the message to school leavers across Northamptonshire from Tresham College and The Corby Sixth Form.

Part of The Bedford College Group, Tresham College and The Corby Sixth Form are continuing to welcome applications from young people following GCSE results, with a range of academic, vocational and technical routes available for those still deciding what to do next.

Across Tresham College’s campuses in Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough, students can choose from a wide range of vocational and technical programmes designed to combine classroom learning with practical, hands-on experience. Meanwhile, The Corby Sixth Form offers students looking for an academic route the opportunity to study A levels in a dedicated sixth form environment.

School leavers can also consider T Levels, two-year technical qualifications designed with employers. Equivalent to three A levels, T Levels combine classroom-based learning with substantial industry experience, helping students develop the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to progress to university, a higher apprenticeship or skilled employment.

For those ready to begin their careers in the workplace, apprenticeships offer another route after GCSEs, combining paid employment and hands-on experience with training towards a recognised qualification.

Young people are required to remain in education or training until the age of 18. This can include full-time education, an apprenticeship, or working or volunteering for 20 hours or more a week alongside part-time education or training.

Careers advice and dedicated student support are also available to help learners make informed choices and progress towards university, an apprenticeship or employment. Students who have not yet achieved the required grades in GCSE English and maths can continue studying these subjects alongside their main programme where required.
