Mark Hughes appointed Principal of Tresham College

The Bedford College Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Hughes as Principal of Tresham College, following an extensive national recruitment process.

Mark will lead Tresham College’s campuses in Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough, as well as the National College for Motorsport (NC4M) in Silverstone. Together, these campuses serve communities across west and north Northamptonshire, making The Bedford College Group one of the largest education providers in the region.

Mark brings considerable experience in strategic leadership across sixth form and further education. Before joining Tresham College, he was Principal of Hartlepool Sixth Form and also worked nationally as an executive education consultant.

He already knows The Bedford College Group well, having worked on a number of strategic projects across the Group’s campuses before taking on the role of Interim Principal at Tresham College.

Mark is also an independent member of the governing board at OLC Europe, an independent higher education institution.

Strengthening links with communities and employers

With a strong interest in community-focused education and regional enterprise, Mark is currently working closely with North Northamptonshire Council, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the South Midlands Careers Hub to develop curriculum opportunities for young people and adults which support local and regional priorities.

As Principal, Mark will focus on continuing to improve the experience of students across Tresham College and strengthening the College’s links with the communities it serves.

Working with local employers and businesses will be an important part of this, helping to ensure that students have access to education and skills which reflect the opportunities and needs of the local economy.

Mark is also committed to ensuring that each campus provides an inclusive and supportive environment where students are given the opportunity to succeed, both during their time at College and as they move into employment or further study.
