Skills for Life is the headline of the latest National Apprenticeship Week to be supported across the region by The Bedford College Group.
College representatives will be hosting and attending a wide range of events in Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire, encouraging young people and their parents to recognise the value of apprenticeships as a pathway to the best careers. These will take place from February 5 to 11.
They will tie in with the national campaigns throughout the week, including the launch on Monday, Employer Tuesday, Apprentice Wednesday, T Level Thursday, Celebration Friday and NAW Weekender.
Meeting current and future needs
New CEO of The Bedford College Group Yiannis Koursis said:
“As one of the leading FE College providers of apprenticeships in the UK and the South East Region, our programmes are informed by Labour Market Intelligence and we work with nearly 1,000 businesses to ensure our offer is meeting current and future needs.
“Our relationship with businesses is one of partnership and support. We pride ourselves in not only being a provider of workforce development programmes and apprenticeships, but we also involve the business world in helping us design and co-deliver important elements of our curricula.
“Through our robust Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance, we ensure all young people and adults are aware of the huge career potential and future life opportunities available to them through studying technical qualifications and especially the value of T Levels and Apprenticeships.
“At a national level myself and Executive Director of Apprenticeships Debbie Houghton joined a meeting at No 10 to discuss how FE Colleges promote the value of apprenticeships and technical education and explored what we more we could be doing to ensure the UK achieves its vision.”
Apprenticeship Activities
Tanya Baney, The Bedford College Group Head of Apprenticeships points to a range of activities linked to apprenticeships which will be promoted across various social media channels.
On February 5, the Group will be joining a celebration at the Houses of Parliament hosted by Robert Halfon MP as part of the awards on Feb 27.
Later in the month, the Group has been shortlisted in the national finals of the Apprenticeships, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Provider Recognition Award run by FE Week & AELP AAC Apprenticeship Awards 2024, in association with City & Guilds.
