The Bedford College Group is setting the pace for apprenticeships across a wide range of industry sectors in the SEMLEP region (South East Midlands).
As part of the National Apprenticeship Show* at Milton Keynes Arena MK on March 12th and 13th, the Bedford College team will be demonstrating routes into a wide range of careers available for those aged 16 and over.
More than 70 pathways into apprenticeship careers are available** including apprenticeships through which young people can progress on to Higher Education qualifications financed by employers, an “earn while you learn” alternative to university debt.
Bedford College merged with Tresham College, Northamptonshire to create the largest college group in the region in 2017. Tresham College has close working links with major employers such as Weetabix, delivering apprenticeship services which have been recognised at a national level by the prestigious Times Education Supplement (TES).
Bedford College has close links with Milton Keynes with students travelling to take up courses only available in Bedfordshire locations, including those in land-based learning at the Shuttleworth College country park campus.
The Bedford College Group delivers forward-thinking engineering courses via the national COLLAB, college collaboration group, as well as pioneering other courses to meet the new Government official “Standards”.
Director of Apprenticeships Debbie Houghton said:
The Bedford College Group is the interface between: Competitive companies who are demanding apprentices with modern skills to keep up with a fast-changing world, and, Government interventions such as the Apprenticeship Levy and “Standards” which are designed to bring some cohesion to the national skills base. We want businesses to know that we are here to help, and parents and teenagers to see that we are the route to the careers of tomorrow.
