The Bedford College Group’s library and learning resources centres (LRC) rival the best educational organisations in the UK.

In terms of assessing the resources of the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC), a UK company which provides network and IT services to support Higher Education (HE) institutions and research, the Group’s LRCs have been found to be one of most frequent users out of 200 organisations across the country.

Making learning accessible.

Group Head Gordon Bowie:

“We have consistently been in the Top 15 for using the facilities such as the Oxford University Press VSI Series, Digital Theatre+ and Britannica Academic.

“We’re a lot more than book pushers here in the library service though. Since the start of last academic year we have already delivered more than 3,000 cases of study skills support to students across a mix of group and individual sessions – which means we’re keeping in touch across all campuses in Bedfordshire and Northants. Our HE research materials are highly valued.

“More than that, we stage a whole range of events for big days like St Valentine’s, limerick competitions, barn owl and bumble bee talks at Shuttleworth College, performing arts in the library at Kettering and even work placements for some students.

“We’re here to help make learning accessible and fun for everyone – whether that is online or in person on campus.”
