Let’s Go to Work! Was theme of a special careers fair at Tresham College inspired by local MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire, Tom Pursglove.
The Corby Apprenticeship & Jobs Fair brought together employers and students to showcase the wide range of careers which are open to young people in Northamptonshire.
Sponsors were a 7formation, Construction Solutions, and the Europa Worldwide Group with support by KM Packaging.
Exhibitors included the college’s own construction and hair & beauty students, advice and guidance and apprenticeships teams; the University of Northampton, Teamwork Trust, Velvet Glove Care, Barclays PLC, The Mallows, Northants Fire and Rescue Service, Olympus Care Services, Deene Park, Impact Recruitment, Serve Legal, Utility Warehouse, Rapid Medical Recruitment, Lakelands Day Care Hospice and Farley and Jones.
MP Tom Pursglove, who was appointed as Assistant Government Whip following the 2019 General Election, arrived in the morning to walk around and talk with businesses.
He met with Karen Campbell, Vice Principal of The Bedford College Group of which Tresham College became a part in 2017. They discussed the range of educational and training opportunities which include apprenticeships which can extend up to a degree and also how degrees can be started at Tresham campuses in partnership with the University of Northamptonshire.
“There are so many routes into great careers from your local college,” said Karen.
Tom said: “I want to say a massive “thank you” to all those who came along to my Apprenticeships & Jobs Fair at Tresham College in Corby.
“A great event, with lots of positive feedback from exhibitors – hopefully it will have led to many successful links being forged.”
