The Bedford College Group is moving ahead with a strategic overhaul of the use of technology in improving processes and the user experience (staff and student), and most importantly, in teaching and learning which will set the pace for educational providers across the FE Sector in the UK.
An international expert has been appointed as Executive Director of Digital Transformation Sheraz Amin.
Sheraz was Head of Digital Transformation for Santander bank when it moved customers largely from branches to e-banking. He then helped Thomson in their transformation to TUI
Sheraz has worked in 10 different countries across the world, but actually comes from Bedford where he attended, and was later a Governor for, Biddenham School.
Sheraz said:
“Our plans for the changes at The Bedford College Group will be leading edge and will set a strategic path for others to follow. Nowhere in public sector FE education is using technology in the way that, for instance, Harvard University, is for teaching and learning.
“The changes will have a positive effect across every campus and every person and were overdue in the whole industry, not just the Group, pre-Covid. Now we have seen some of the benefits of ‘blended learning’, combining with face-to-face which students prefer in many cases, with on-line tutorials and lessons which enable students and staff to maximise their use of time and deliver noticeable, improved outcomes.”
