Highly commended in the Institute of Carpentry Awards was Bedford College apprentice Joe Purslow, aged 21 of Silsoe, Beds.
Joe works for Bloor Homes now producing some fantastically crafted work including dormer windows, a spiral staircase and bandstand roof.
In being presented with a variety of prizes from sponsors, Joe told younger trainees at the college what they could achieve with their sought-after skills.
Vice Principal at Bedford College Dave Wilkins said:
“Joe managed to calibrate his work at the college with his employer and exhibited an eagerness to learn resulting in this recognition from a national body. He is a great example of the future of the construction industry.”
