Group on the Ball

Ball Corporation

A global company is offering great career opportunities to people, with the help of The Bedford College Group.

The Ball Corporation, founded in 1880, now employs more than 20,000 people worldwide and makes 3 billion recyclable aluminium cans each year. Building of a new manufacturing plant which will offer 200 jobs, and may be the largest in the UK, is now underway off Junction 10 of the A14, at the ‘Kettering Gateway’.

Cheryl Needham, Head of Adult and Community Learning has been working with the Ball Corporation to consider Government budgets for training for Sector-based Work Academy Programmes (SWAPs). This could include pre-employment training encouraging people to step up to be considered for employment.

Already the Ball Corporation is collaborating with the Group by offering visits to their plant at Milton Keynes to college-run Prince’s Trust Team members - so they can see a real life manufacturing environment.
