Emily Middlehurst is enjoying her dream career in travel thanks to Bedford College apprenticeships.
Emily, aged 18, is now working at Global Travel Experts in Ram Yard, Castle Quay, Bedford booking fantastic trips for people – like a visit to New York for the winners of a Love Bedford free prize draw organised by a local business organisation the BedfordBID.
She said: “I started on a full-time travel course at Bedford College then took the opportunity of an apprenticeship at this lovely family-owned firm where I am learning so much about customer service in the travel business.”
Meherwan Bozorgi, Managing Director, Global Travel Experts “We are new to Bedford but not to the travel industry as I have worked in Dubai and London before settling here.
Despite misconceptions, booking on-line is not always cheaper than going through a specialist agent and we hope that our friendly service helps people to enjoy the process of arranging trips, with the added security of having professional support.
Emily’s Dad Paul is part of the international team at Weetabix, which works closely with Tresham College, part of The Bedford College Group – hence the special cereal box on display at the travel agency.
“The Bedford College Group supports apprentices in companies large and small across Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. This is a happy link between two of our clients companies,” said Director of Business Development Gina Bubbins.
