Outstanding students from across Central Bedfordshire have been recognised for their exceptional achievements at The Bedford College Group’s annual Central Bedfordshire Student Awards.

The awards celebrated the success, dedication, and determination of students from Central Bedfordshire College, recognising individuals across a wide range of curriculum areas alongside several special achievement categories.

Students, families, staff, employers, and supporters gathered to celebrate those who have excelled in their studies, overcome significant challenges, demonstrated leadership, and made a positive contribution to college life and their local communities.

The annual awards showcase the talent across the college and recognise the commitment students have shown throughout their educational journeys. From academic excellence and technical achievement to resilience, personal growth and community impact, the event highlighted the transformative role further education plays in helping individuals realise their ambitions.

Awards presented on the evening included Student of the Year Awards across more than 20 subject areas, alongside Outstanding Achievement Awards recognising exceptional accomplishments both within and beyond the classroom.

Among the evening’s highest honours was the The Bedford College Group Student of the Year Award, presented to Sabrina Kampta, who was recognised for her outstanding commitment, academic success, and personal development during her studies on the CAVA Level 3 Diploma in Access to Higher Education (Humanities and Social Science).

Sabrina Kampta, said,

“Returning to education as a mature student while balancing family life wasn’t always easy, and there were definitely moments when I questioned whether I could do it. Being visually impaired brought additional challenges, but with the incredible support of my tutors and my children encouraging me every step of the way, I kept going. I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved and grateful for everyone who helped me get here. This award is a reminder that it’s never too late to pursue your goals, and I’m excited to take the next step and study Psychology at university.”

The event also celebrated recipients of the Access to Higher Education Student of the Year Award, Leadership Award, Citizenship Award, College Ambassador Award and Outstanding Advancement Award, recognising students who have gone above and beyond in their studies and wider contributions.

Terri Miller, Course Lead Access to Higher Education said,

“Every year, our Access to Higher Education students demonstrate incredible determination, resilience, and commitment as they balance study alongside work, family, and other responsibilities. It’s inspiring to see students grow in confidence, overcome challenges, and realise ambitions they may have thought were out of reach. Sabrina’s journey is a fantastic example of this, but she is one of many students who have shown remarkable perseverance and a willingness to support others while pursuing their own goals. Watching our students succeed and progress to the next stage of their lives is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.”
