As part of the National Apprenticeship Show, the college took a stand at the MK Arena – and the buzz attracted coverage from BBC TV.

An electronic graffiti board and a challenge to change a racing car tyre, meant teenagers flocked to The Bedford College Group corner.

Director of Business Development Gina Bubbins, who deals with 1,000s of employers more and more of whom offer apprenticeships said: “It’s been a brilliant event, we broke through our targets on the first day with Year 11 young people who wanted to know about how to earn while they learn.”

Other events and activities undertaken during National Apprenticeship Week (which started March 5th) included:

Award events with Tresham College apprentices at the Saints rugby ground staged by the Northamptonshire NHS, and another organised by Weetabix attended by Group CEO Ian Pryce CBE and Head of Business Development Julie Hoult.

Tresham Assessor Keith Haynes kicked off the NAW celebrations by winning the first ever FE Assessor Award given by the TES (Times Educational Supplement) at a national event held in London.

Two Tayto engineering apprentices were interviewed by BBC Radio Northampton about the benefits of earning while learning.
