Understanding Mental Health in Children and Young People NCFE Level 2 Certificate (Distance Learning)The purpose of this course is to increase your knowledge and understanding of mental health in children and young people. By completing the qualification, you will develop knowledge of: children and young people’s mental health in context; mental health problems; the impact of mental ill-health and how to support and maintain mental wellbeing in children and young people.
All of the Level 2 courses are free. These courses last up to 16 weeks and you can start them at any point throughout the year, and complete them in your own free time.

What will I study?
You will study:
- Legislation and best practice relating to children and young people’s mental health
- Understand causes and diagnosis of mental health concerns in children and young people
- Understand the principles of mental health concerns in the context of children and young people
- Living with childhood mental health conditions
- Understand how to minimise the risk of mental health concerns in children and young people

There are several next steps that you can take. You can go on to study another Level 2 distance learning course or a Level 3 one.
Alternatively, you could enrol on to our Access to Higher Education course or other further education courses (subject to entry requirements).

Please note that an administration charge of £100 will be charged if learners do not complete the course within the allocated 16 weeks.
