OverviewTechnical & Professional Construction Advanced (Level 3)
The study programme is mainly classroom based except for one unit on surveying. Sessions are delivered through a series of lectures, directive learning, group work, individual work, research and role play.
Over the two-year course you will cover 18 units (9 each year) and as the subjects interlink with each other, you will be basing these around a simulated construction project. For example, you could be designing a site agent’s house on the College site, drawing it both by hand and computer 3D modelling, setting the building out on the grass, pricing it up, and preparing applications for planning permission and building control. By the end of the study programme you should have a good understanding of the whole construction process, as well as building up a portfolio to take to interviews. Where possible various trips are organised each year, and guest speakers are brought in to give an insight into the different roles within the industry.
