Supporting the Adult Nursing Team (T Level)

The T level in supporting the Adult Nursing Team equips students with the skills and knowledge required to progress into skilled employment or Higher education routes related to the pathway specialism. Students wishing to pursue a career within Adult Nursing should apply.

Students learn in an immersive environment as we have a fully equipped T level Health classroom that simulates a hospital ward (Tresham College).

  • Industry placement for a minimum of 315 hours develops core skills relevant to healthcare
  • Students undertake placement alongside registered healthcare professionals
  • Occupational specialism enables students to learn about the skills and knowledge directly related to their chosen pathway

Need to know

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grades 9-4 including English and Maths OR similar at Level 2 including English and Maths.

T Level courses are for 16-19 year olds who have completed their GCSEs.

Other requirements

An interest in becoming an Adult Nurse, a good work ethic, positive ‘can do’ attitude.

What qualification will I gain?

NCFE T Level Technical qualification in Health (Level 3

How will I be assessed?

Year 1: 2 paper based examinations and 1 employer set project

Year 2: Variety of synoptic assessments

Industry placement

Industry placement makes up 20% of this qualification and students will be required to complete a minimum of 315 hours in a Health based placement during the 2 year study programme.

Course content

What will I study?

Core units for year 1:

  • Working within the healthcare sector
  • Health and safety
  • Managing information and data within the health and science sector
  • Good scientific and clinical practice
  • Providing person centred care
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Infection prevention and control in health specific settings
  • Safeguarding

Core science concepts covering physics, chemistry, biology, genetics and microbiology.

Further science concepts covering Anatomy & physiology, Epidemiology, classification of diseases and disorders, Injury and trauma and Health promotion.

Core units for year 2:

Occupational specialism Core – Supporting Healthcare:

  • Assist with an individual’s overall care and needs to ensure comfort and wellbeing
  • Assist registered health professionals with clinical or therapeutic tasks and interventions
  • Undertake a range of physiological measurements

Occupational specialism – Supporting the Adult Nursing Team:

  • Assist the Adult Nursing Team with clinical skills
  • Support individuals to meet activities of daily living
  • Assist with skin integrity assessments and with the care and treatment of skin conditions

Next steps

Course progression:

Students can progress onto a University degree course in Adult nursing or higher level apprenticeship.

Career progression:

Students can progress onto a career within Adult nursing.

Additional information

Students will require appropriate trousers and footwear for placement.

A placement tunic will be provided by the college.
