Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate

This CACHE course will develop your confidence and practice if you are hoping to work as a teaching assistant in a school, or already help in a school. Approximately 5-10 hours of study a week are also required via our VLE (virtual learning environment) programme.

Course information

Entry requirements

You will need to be in employment as a teaching assistant in a school, or have a work placement in a school as a teaching assistant. This can be in a lower, middle, upper or special school and involve a general support role or a role with specific responsibilities for a pupil, subject area or age group. You will also need to display appropriate literacy and ICT skills.

Course content

The course will cover child development, supporting activities and working with colleagues.

During the course you will study:

  • Safeguarding
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Schools as Organisations
  • Supporting Learning Activities
  • Developing own and Team Practices
  • Maintaining and supporting relationships with children and young people
  • Supporting children and young people’s health and safety
  • Supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour.

We would also recommend that a Paediatric First Aid Course is completed.

Qualification

NCFE Cache Level 2 Certificate Supporting Teaching And Learning.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods will be co-ordinated to suit your individual needs, ranging from written assignments, professional discussions, case studies and oral questioning.

Further study and career options

On successful completion of this course you can progress on to our Supporting Teaching & Learning Level 3 Certificate.

Funding Information

The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.

If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
