Management and Leadership CMI Level 5 Diploma

This qualification is for the development of the role and skills of managers and aims to develop personal management capabilities, make effective us of information in decision-making, operations and the development of the skills in managing people.

Course information

Entry requirements

You must be 18 or over and have either a degree or considerable management experience. You must also be IT literate and able to write reports in a coherent and structured style. Entry is through interview.

You will study the following units:

  • Principles of Operational Leadership and Management in an Organisational Context
  • Principles of Developing, Managing and Leading Individuals and Teams to Achieve Success
  • Managing Stakeholder Relationships
  • Managing Projects to Achieve Results
  • Managing Change
  • Creating and Delivering Operational Plans
  • Managing Finance
  • Using Reflective Practice to Inform Personal and Professional Development
Qualification

CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership.

Assessment methods

Assessment is through assignments which may involve a variety of business formats such as written account/assignment, report, scenario/case study, work based evidence, reflective practice/own experience.

Further study and career options

You can apply for Chartered Manager status or apply to a university to do a Level 6 or 7 management or business top-up course.

Additional information

This course is delivered with a blended learning approach. On this course you will be required to attend once a fortnight (schedule provided) for an introduction to CMI resources and the unit requirements. You will then have access to the tutor for tutorials face to face, via email and by telephone. Significant study outside of college hours is essential to be successful on this course.

This is a part-time evening course, once every two weeks.

All aspects of management theory are covered and there is the opportunity to network and learn from other senior managers from a variety of business sectors. Deadlines are set for submission of assessments. Significant reading and preparation of assignments is required in your own time.
