Overview
Interior Design HND (Part time)The programme is a follow on from the one year HNC in 3D Design and will enable you to develop skills in the use of CAD in the creative industry. The course enables the exploration of design ideas and the visualisation of concepts through photo-realistic drawings for 3D environments in commercial, retail and residential sectors. Our studios in the purpose-built South Bank Arts Centre are run by practitioners who give our students the opportunity to engage in the contemporary debate about political, social and economic factors which influence interior design. The course will help you develop an understanding of the fundamental properties of common materials and their structure. You will develop the skills needed to use Trend Forecasting for interiors such as lighting, furniture and colours. The course is supported through workshops delivered by guest designers from the industry. Our students have gained employment with local and London-based design agencies, for example, jewellery designers and lighting designers. Once you have completed the HND in Interior Design you can progress to a BA (Hons) degree at a university of your choice.

To begin this course you will need a Higher National Certificate in an Art & Design subject, or relevant professional experience.
Entry will also be subject to a successful interview, where you will be asked to present a portfolio of your creative work, including developmental worksheets or sketchbooks.
You will develop skills and knowledge in Product Design as well as broad diagnostic skills and knowledge in 3D Design.

- One specialist unit
- Three optional units
Formal presentation of project work.
Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Art and Design (Interior Design)
On completion of this course, you will be able to undertake work on a freelance basis or direct employment. Future career paths include product designer, interior designer.
You will have the opportunity to take part in workshops delivered by guest designers as well as visiting design destinations for example Berlin, Milan and New York. Our students have taken part in several design exhibitions including New Designers, London.
